ACCESS CONTROL: DESIGN AND INSTALLATION

Surveye designs and installs access control systems in compliance with EN 60839-11-2, EN 60839-11-1, CEI 79-3 and EN 50131-1 standards.

Applications range from the Industry to Logistics, from Banking to Retail, including the Large-Scale Distribution and Fashion & Luxury sectors, up to Public Administration, Home (Homes & Residentials), and the Hotels industry (Hospitality & Leisure).

Access control systems are important sources of information about the state of occupancy of a building, as they allow to restrict access only to authorized persons, thus increasing the protection of the people and property in the protected or restricted area.

The purposes of an access control system can therefore be summarized as follows:

  • Increased security level (definition and restriction of access permissions, identification and monitoring of transit/movements)

  • Automation and flexibility of business processes (definition of access levels/areas, of routes and stay times, management of visitors and external staff, and so on)

  • Support to safety (in case of emergencies, e.g. in case of fire, the occupancy of the areas can be checked in support of staff and user evacuation procedures)

  • Support to strategic business analyses and decisions (flows and employment, available resources…)

  • Optimization of costs and site management (energy consumption and system activation based on zones/premises used)

TECNOLOGIE PER SISTEMI DI RICONOSCIMENTO

Some of the most consolidated products and components are:

  • Digital selectors with alphanumeric keypad
  • Card and badge readers
  • Smart card proximity sensors, badge RFID, personal IDs (PINs) to be typed

Furthermore, technologies based on BLE, QR-Code, NFC standards relying on mobile devices, such as smartphones and wearable devices, are increasingly being used.

Mobile technology helps maximize uptime and efficiency, and provides a simple, cost-effective way to manage identification credentials in a highly flexible and fast manner.

Biometric recognition devices also deserve to be mentioned, as they allow for the identification of individuals based on their unique physiological characteristics, such as the geometry of the hand, the fingerprint, the image of the face, the morphology of the iris, and the retina.

Biometric systems are the most advanced and secure frontier of personal recognition. The biometric traits and features of an individual cannot in fact be stolen, passed on to other individuals, forgotten or lost.

Unlike traditional systems, biometric information cannot also be extorted (unless the individual is forced to use them) or used fraudulently.

An access can be enabled and opened with a simple local device, such as a stand-alone door opener, not connected to a central control unit, or supervised by a more sophisticated centralized, online access control system. In the latter option, the data detected by the readers are transferred to a server that processes the information and establishes whether the access can be opened.

Online access control systems offer exciting features, namely:

  • Creation of profiles with personalized enablement
  • Event storage, including access attempts, with indication of the reason for transit rejection, if necessary
  • Detailed reports of the transits of each individual, tracking of transit times, mapping of access attempts, flows by time slot

The access control system can also implement mechatronic solutions with wireless systems and a wide range of low maintenance, high security battery locks suitable for various applications.

With a single transponder, rather than many keys, all the doors for which an authorization has been issued can be opened. If it is lost, the transponder can be immediately disabled and any access denied.

In addition to the physical/pedestrian control of people, access control applications may also control vehicle circulation by using license plate recognition, UHF telepass, APP-BLE systems that are easy to set up for employees, customers, suppliers and visitors.

Modern access control platforms are controlled by dedicated easy-to-use software built around a scalable structure that allows for further expansion and upgrades as the user may need (number of accesses and users) with no impact on the operation of the system.

CLOSING SYSTEMS

There are several automatic closing devices that can be connected and managed by a human recognition system or, more generally, by a transit/access authorization system.

THREE-ARM BAR OR FULL-HEIGHT TURNSTILES

Surveye installs three-arm turnstiles, ideal for regulating pedestrian flows in places with high movements of people (offices, industrial complexes, sales points, wellness centers, gyms, airports, subways).

Turnstiles are usually bi-directional, but can be configured to operate in a single direction in case of one-way transit/access flows.

The operating mechanism is activated with RFID badges, cards or via a centralized system and the rotation of the three-arm unit is caused by the force applied by the person during transit.

Surveye also installs full-height turnstiles, which are more suitable to protect external areas, such as football stadiums, where a high level of safety is required.

These turnstiles cannot be jumped over or crawled under; they can rotate mechanically in only one direction or be controlled through an access control system (card or biometric data reader) to let only authorized persons in.

Ideally completed with the installation of a camera, full-height turnstiles are also used as unmanned gates.

MOTORIZED DOORS

Motorized doors are ideal for the control of heavily trafficked areas, such as underground/subway stations, airports, train stations, sports facilities, large companies.

The operating mechanism is simple: the access control system checks the identity of the transiting individual and enables access if the individual is recognized as authorized. The motorized doors of the gate move back in their side frames to let the person through.

SECURITY MANTRAPS

Security mantraps are used in high-risk facilities (such as bank counters, goldsmiths, and retailers of precious articles or who deal with significant amounts of cash).

They primarily provide prevention, hinder, and protect from robbery attempts, enabling and simplifying the use of screening technologies (metal detectors, face recognition…) that can block suspicious individuals.
