A video surveillance system introduces important benefits and achieves significant aims that certainly go beyond the traditional concepts of security summarized in the deterrent effect and the collection of information for investigation purposes.

Surveye offers a wide range of analogue, IP and Megapixel cameras, both fixed and motorized. To complete the array, thermal technology and thermographic cameras are also available, almost always in combination with particularly effective video Analytics software such as, for example, in the development of perimeter protection solutions.

Installed in the appropriate positions with precise configurations, these can provide the performance and functions required by the system in the specific application.

Depending on the purpose, we may simply identify 4 main applications to be developed and customized based on detailed needs:

• Identification of persons or groups

  In this context, the camera is placed in a suitably elevated position to easily focus onto people transit areas. This approach can be adopted to control entrances and exits, as well as to preventively identify safety risk behaviours.

• Recognition of persons or objects

  This function requires the installation of a camera with a suitable resolution and a suitable field of view to capture images with the necessary level of detail for the next automated or staff-operated event reconstruction and analysis step. This approach allows, for example, to recognize faces, detect abandoned objects and identify vehicles

• Environmental monitoring

  The cameras are placed in an elevated position with a wide viewing angle, as it is essential for them to focus on large and extensive areas. These video surveillance systems can also be used to monitor squares and public areas in general, to identify fires, and to control the environment, such as in landslides and flooding.

• Marketing information
  

  Video Analytics algorithms, for example, can be used to count the number of persons passing through certain gates and stay times within certain areas.

If suitably sized and implemented, modern video technologies are in fact used to:

• Identify, record, and report unauthorized intrusions in real time
• Detect suspect events by preventing malicious action
• Monitor public, private and commercial areas to ensure the safety of people and property: harassment, aggressions, theft, robbery, shoplifting, …
• Control access flows (people and vehicle) by recognizing the direction and tracing/tracking movements (PTZ motorized cameras)
• Traffic management: restricted traffic areas, parking lots, additional lanes, alternative routes
• Check the regularity of circulation documents (interfacing with the Police database)
• Analyse behaviour and situations: gatherings, loitering, panic, abandoned objects, vandalism

• Integrate safety management tools, such as the detection and signalling of people on the floor

A video surveillance solution can obviously have a more or less complex and articulated structure and configuration. However, the correct sizing of the network infrastructure to be used to support in-field equipment and the management system remain of paramount importance and must be:

• Scalable and flexible, so that it can evolve and be extended, based on new functional needs, with the addition of new cameras, Client stations and video recording units
• Robust to handle a high data traffic
• Redundant to ensure continuity of service and load balancing
• Secure against cyber attacks
• Protected against electromagnetic disturbances and overvoltage

Surveye devotes a great attention to risk analysis, to the choice of technologies, and to the design and installation of the video surveillance solution to be tailored to the specific needs of the Customer.

Cameras can be controlled through a digital video recorder, a dedicated software (VMS –Video Management Software) installed on a server machine or directly reaching the cameras with Cloud services.

The camera control system allows users to:

• View the camera images in real time
• Store the images generated by the cameras on external drives
• Program functionalities in time bands and/or events, such as alarm conditions detected by the cameras or other subsystems
• Remotely access the system (with Remote Clients and Apps for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets)
